Where are volunteer group shifts held?

H&J Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank
McGowan Center for Healthy Living
185 Research Drive
Pittston, PA 18640

Who do I contact to schedule my group?
What will our volunteer team be doing?

Tentative Itinerary:
Volunteers will sign in and have a seat in the conference room. Then volunteers will receive a quick overview of CEO/Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank covering topics such as who we are, what we do, and who we serve. That will be followed by pictures which will most likely be used internally for reporting and externally for social media.

Volunteer efforts will begin and remain focused on packing food boxes. This is an assembly line set-up; everyone will have a specific task and the environment works well for employee engagement as well as team building. This will be an enjoyable and rewarding experiencel

How old do you need to be to volunteer?

Volunteer activities take place in a warehouse, so safety is our highest concern. We do not allow babies or toddlers, but we also encourage the introduction of volunteering at a young age. So, accompanied by a parent or guardian, youngsters can be exposed to volunteering and learn the benefits. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian complete an enrollment form, which is good for 1 year. Strollers are not allowed.

How long is a volunteer shift?

Typically volunteer shifts are 3 hours long.

How many volunteers can come with a group?

We encourage 15-30 volunteers per shift, but don’t worry if your group falls short of that number. It can be combined with another group.

What should I wear?

Closed-toe shoes are a must. Also, the warehouse is climate-controlled, and may feel a bit chilly. Layers are recommended.
