Nutrition Education

Keys to Healthy Living

The Commission on Economic Opportunity is committed to teaching families how to plan meals, shop wisely, and cook together — building healthy habits that fight hunger, food insecurity, and poor nutrition.

What We Do

The Food Bank Nutrition Educators lead programs for people of all ages: cooking demonstrations, nutrition classes, after-school and preschool programs, health fairs, and presentations at senior centers. We also partner with Food Bank agencies to plan nutritious menus and make sure meals are prepared safely.

In local school districts (Wilkes-Barre Area, Wyoming Valley West, Greater Nanticoke Area, Hanover Area, and Hazleton Area), we offer in-class nutrition lessons to students from kindergarten through ninth grade. Each year, over 9,000 students benefit from these lessons.

If your community group, school, or organization wants to host a Nutrition Education session, get in touch with our Nutrition Education Manager:
